Institutional Governance
LASA's legal governance is exercised by its registered Board of Directors in accordance with Luxembourg law and the statutes of the association. The Board of Directors retains responsibility for the legal representation, statutory administration and institutional obligations of LASA.
LASA is developing an additional governance and advisory framework to support institutional strategy, academic standards, international development and long-term sustainability. This framework will complement, rather than replace, the legal responsibilities of the registered Board of Directors. Confirmed structures and appointments will be published following completion of the relevant institutional procedures.
Membership election
Membership is conferred following nomination or direct invitation by LASA, internal review, approval under the Academy’s applicable governance procedure, written invitation and formal acceptance.
Members are principally based within the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. Foreign Members are principally based outside these areas. The distinction is geographical and does not indicate a difference in academic standing.
LASA does not charge application or membership fees.
Statutory Framework
LASA operates in accordance with its statutes, adopted in April 2024, and the laws of Luxembourg applicable to non-profit associations. The statutes define the Academy’s institutional purpose, legal governance, membership framework, decision-making procedures and organisational responsibilities.
The statutes form the legal basis for the operation and long-term development of LASA. Relevant statutory and governance information is maintained by the LASA Secretariat and may be provided where appropriate.
