Institutional Governance

The statutory bodies of LASA are the General Assembly and the Board of Directors. The General Assembly exercises the powers reserved to it by Luxembourg law and the statutes. The Board of Directors is responsible for the administration and management of LASA, except for matters reserved to the General Assembly.

Member and Foreign Member Distinctions

Member and Foreign Member are honorary institutional academic distinctions conferred by LASA. They do not constitute legal membership of the ASBL and do not confer voting, governance or representation rights.

The distinctions may be conferred following nomination, institutional recommendation or direct invitation, subject to academic review, approval by the Board of Directors, written invitation and acceptance.

The distinction between Member and Foreign Member is based on geographical and administrative criteria, principally the holder's main professional or institutional location at the time of conferral. It does not indicate any difference in academic standing.

LASA does not charge application or membership fees for these distinctions.

Statutory Framework

LASA operates in accordance with its current statutes, adopted by the General Assembly on 27 July 2026, and the laws of Luxembourg applicable to non-profit associations.

The statutes form the legal basis for LASA's governance and institutional activities.
