On the occasion of the celebration of the birthday of H.R.H. the Grand Duke, the Ministry of State and the Ministry of Culture are pleased to launch a call for candidatures for the creation of a musical composition to be premiered and performed at the official ceremony on 23 June 2026 at the Philharmonie Luxembourg.
The call is open to any Luxembourg or resident composer who is a member of a collective management society.
The work, which must be in a festive style, is to be written for symphony orchestra (maximum forces: strings 14/12/10/8/6; 3 Ob.; 3 Fl.; 3 Cl.; 3 Bsn.; 4 Hrn.; 3 Tpt.; 3 Tbn.; 1 Tuba; 1 Harp; Timpani; 2 Perc.) and will be performed by the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra at the opening of the ceremony. An optional mixed chorus (SATB) may also be added.
Applications are free of charge. The application files will be reviewed and selected by a jury which will designate the winner. All information can be found on the Ministry of Culture’s website.
