Xiaoli Li Receives Singapore’s 2026 Long Service Medal

Professor Xiaoli Li, Foreign Member of the Luxembourg Academy of Sciences and Arts (LASA), has been recognised in Singapore’s 2026 National Day Awards with The Long Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Setia).

The recognition was announced by the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) on 9 August 2026 as part of the University’s acknowledgement of faculty and staff members honoured in this year’s National Day Awards.

The Long Service Medal recognises sustained and exemplary service over an extended period in Singapore’s public sector and related institutions. In announcing the award, SUTD highlighted Professor Li’s longstanding commitment and contributions to the development of both Singapore and the University.

Professor Li is Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple Chair Professor and Head of the Information Systems Technology and Design (ISTD) pillar at SUTD. His work spans artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics and the development of data-driven technologies, alongside significant responsibilities in academic leadership, research and education.

Singapore’s National Day Awards constitute an established national honours framework recognising individuals whose service and contributions have benefited the country and its institutions. The Long Service Medal particularly reflects sustained commitment over time.

Professor Li’s recognition reflects a professional career combining research, educational leadership and continued engagement with the advancement of artificial intelligence and digital technologies.

As a Foreign Member of LASA, Professor Li contributes to an international academic community spanning the sciences, technology, social sciences, humanities and the arts.
