Open Call for Registered Research Initiatives
LASA invites researchers and practitioners worldwide to submit proposals for registration under its Registered Research Initiatives programme.
Registered Research Initiatives is a registration-based programme for research and practice-oriented projects aligned with LASA's areas of interest.
Following completion of the registration process, approved initiatives receive
- A LASA registration number and certificate of registration
- A project summary listing on the LASA website
- Inclusion in LASA communications and annual reporting
Scope
We welcome proposals across the following areas, and interdisciplinary submissions are encouraged:
- Science and technology, including health, computing, and environmental sciences
- Arts and culture, including creative practice and cultural heritage
- Policy-relevant research, including governance, regulation, and societal impact
- Education and youth engagement
Eligibility
Open to researchers at all career stages, from all institutions and countries, including independent scholars. There is no application fee.
How to apply
Please submit the following materials to secretariat@lasa.lu:

Project summary
(maximum 1,500 words)
- Title
- Principal investigator(s): name, affiliation, and contact details
- Research question and objectives
- Brief methodology description
- Expected outcomes and significance
- Proposed timeline (suggested: 6–24 months)
- Short curriculum vitae for each principal investigator (maximum 2 pages)
- Optional: a letter of support from a collaborating institution or colleague
Review process
Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis. The typical review period is six to eight weeks. Decisions are communicated by email.
Approved projects are assigned a registration number (format:
LASA-RRI-YYYY-NNN
) and receive a formal registration certificate.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a submission fee?
No. There is no fee to apply or to participate.
Can I apply if I am not based at a university?
Yes. Independent researchers are welcome to apply.
Does LASA provide research funding?
Not at this stage. LASA currently provides institutional registration, documentation and public visibility rather than financial support. If funding programmes are introduced in the future, they will be announced on this page.
Does registration imply LASA endorsement of my research findings?
No. Registration confirms that the project has been reviewed and meets LASA's standards for academic rigour. It does not constitute endorsement of findings or conclusions.
