LASA Opens Enquiries for Academic and Cultural Cooperation

The Luxembourg Academy of Sciences and Arts welcomes enquiries from universities, research institutions, academic organisations, cultural bodies, educators, artists and responsible non-profit initiatives interested in academic or cultural cooperation.

LASA is a developing independent non-profit organisation. Cooperation will therefore be considered on a case-by-case basis and should be proportionate to the Academy’s current capacity.

Areas Suitable for Initial Cooperation

LASA is particularly interested in proposals relating to science and society, health and ageing, arts and cultural heritage, youth and education, research communication, digital learning and interdisciplinary dialogue.

Possible formats include small seminars, roundtables, online discussions, academic visits, joint perspective articles, cultural exchanges, exhibition-related dialogue and participation in carefully defined research communication projects.

The Academy is also open to discussions about documenting and sharing knowledge from different regions, especially where local researchers, educators and cultural practitioners have a meaningful role.

What a Cooperation Enquiry Should Include

A useful first enquiry should be brief and specific. It should identify the proposing organisation or individual, explain the objective, describe the intended participants and clarify the expected role of LASA.

Where an event is proposed, the enquiry should include the provisional date, location or online format, subject, speakers or target participants, expected outputs and any financial implications.

Where the use of the LASA name or logo is requested, the purpose and communication materials should be provided for review. No use should be assumed before written authorisation has been received.

Responsible Cooperation Standards

LASA will consider the legal and public identity of potential partners, the academic relevance of the proposal, the accuracy of public claims and the practical ability of the parties to deliver the activity.

A preliminary conversation or exchange of emails does not itself create a formal partnership. Formal cooperation may require an approved written document that defines responsibilities, use of institutional identity, financial arrangements, intellectual property, publication rights and the duration of the relationship.

LASA will not participate in arrangements that rely on misleading claims of government recognition, automatic academic status, unverified accreditation or the sale of honorary titles.

Funding and Fees

An invitation to submit a cooperation enquiry does not constitute an open grant call. LASA does not currently promise funding, seed grants or financial support for unsolicited proposals.

Some activities may be organised on a cost-sharing or externally supported basis. Any financial arrangement must be transparent, reasonable and connected to the non-profit purposes of the Academy.

Academic Independence

Cooperation should respect academic independence. LASA’s name should not be used to imply endorsement of a product, political position or commercial claim unless such a position has been formally reviewed and authorised.

Contributors should retain appropriate credit for their work. Research and educational materials should follow relevant standards of authorship, evidence, consent and intellectual property.

How LASA Will Develop Cooperation

At this stage, LASA will prioritise a small number of realistic opportunities rather than a large volume of ceremonial agreements. The Academy is especially interested in cooperation that produces a clear outcome, such as a substantive discussion, educational resource, documented exchange or credible path toward future work.
